Our Partners

·

At IUNited, we believe in the power of collaboration to create meaningful change in Northwest Indiana. By working alongside dedicated local organizations, we help provide essential resources, support, and advocacy for individuals and animals in need. Our partnerships span three key areas:

  • Domestic Violence Support – Providing safe havens, advocacy, and resources for survivors of domestic violence and homelessness.
  • Human & Health Services – Supporting food security, hospice care, senior well-being, and refugee assistance.
  • Animal Care & Advocacy – Rescuing, rehabilitating, and protecting animals while promoting responsible pet ownership.

Below, you’ll find more about the incredible organizations we work with and how they are making a difference in our community.

Domestic Violence Support

St. Jude House

St. Jude House is a comprehensive domestic violence shelter and crisis center dedicated to helping individuals and families escape abusive situations. They provide emergency shelter, legal advocacy, counseling, and educational programs to help survivors regain independence and rebuild their lives. Beyond offering a safe place to stay, St. Jude House works with survivors to navigate the legal system, find employment, and secure stable housing, ensuring a pathway to long-term safety and stability.

Haven House

Haven House serves as a lifeline for individuals and families experiencing homelessness due to domestic violence, economic hardship, or other crises. The shelter offers temporary housing, meals, case management, and access to critical support services. Their mission extends beyond immediate shelter—Haven House actively works to break the cycle of homelessness by providing job placement assistance, mental health resources, and life skills training to help individuals transition to permanent, stable living situations.

Human & Health Services

Heart to Heart Hospice

Heart to Heart Hospice provides compassionate, patient-centered care for individuals facing life-limiting illnesses. Their dedicated team of nurses, physicians, social workers, and volunteers focuses on comfort, dignity, and quality of life. They offer pain management, emotional and spiritual support, and grief counseling for families, ensuring that both patients and their loved ones receive the care and guidance they need during this difficult time.

Cedarhurst of Dyer

Cedarhurst of Dyer is a senior living community committed to enhancing the lives of older adults through assisted living and memory care services. With personalized care plans, engaging daily activities, and on-site therapy services, Cedarhurst fosters a welcoming and supportive environment where residents can maintain their independence while receiving the care they need. Their dedicated staff prioritizes dignity, well-being, and social connection to ensure that every resident feels at home.

Food Recovery Network

The Food Recovery Network is a national student-led initiative focused on reducing food waste and addressing food insecurity. By recovering surplus food from university dining halls, restaurants, and grocery stores, the organization redistributes nutritious meals to shelters, food banks, and community centers. This initiative not only helps combat hunger but also promotes sustainability by preventing excess food from going to waste.

Syrian Community Network

The Syrian Community Network is dedicated to supporting Syrian refugees and other displaced individuals as they adjust to life in the United States. They provide housing assistance, employment services, language education, and cultural integration programs to help families become self-sufficient. Their mentorship programs connect refugees with community members, fostering a sense of belonging and ensuring that families receive the resources and guidance needed to build new lives.

Animal Care & Advocacy

Humane Society of Hobart

The Humane Society of Hobart is a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need. They provide shelter, medical care, and adoption services for abandoned, abused, and stray animals. The organization also focuses on community education, advocating for responsible pet ownership, spaying and neutering, and preventing animal cruelty. Their ultimate goal is to find loving, permanent homes for every animal that enters their facility.

Silver Stray Social

Silver Stray Social is a community-driven organization focused on supporting pet families in Gary, Indiana, before their pets are surrendered to shelters or abandoned. Their “Silver Lining Gary” initiative provides free spay/neuter services, vaccinations, microchipping, and Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs to prevent pet overpopulation and keep animals in loving homes. By offering pet owners the resources and support they need, Silver Stray Social helps reduce shelter overcrowding and ensures that pets receive the care they deserve.
